    This class follows the State curriculum and is designed to introduce you to the plumbing field.  This class will meet the required 110 hours of related theory instruction.  In addition, provide 90 hours of hands on instruction from licensed instructors as well as industry representatives.

    Additional Information:

    New Plumbing Board regulations allow students into Tier I without being a registered apprentice. Apprentice cards need to be in hand prior to the start of Tier II. Minuteman recommends that apprentice applications be submitted by November 1st to ensure apprentice applications have time to be processed through the Plumbing Board.

     
    Attendance for all classes is crucial.  If you are absent for 2 classes, you may be dismissed from the program.

    About the Program

    The 200-hour program provides participants with training in proper use of hand tools and equipment, framing, concrete work, project management, and more.

    Training will take place in the Minuteman's carpentry shop, at the Carpenter’s Training Centers in Dorchester and Millbury, and at other live sites in the area.

    The instructors have many years of experience in construction and carpentry and are actively working in the field.

    The MTI Carpentry program is held in collaboration with the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (NASRCC) and the North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund (NASCTF).

    About the Program

    The Welding program provides students with real-world experience and the opportunity to test for certifications sought by employers. The students will be trained in many forms of welding using up-to-date equipment, including but not limited to oxyacetylene cutting and welding (OAC/W), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), resistance welding (spot welding),  some soldering (silver soldering), arc gouging and cutting (air arc). Students can obtain the following certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, Hot Work, American Welding Society d1.1, and Mass. Highway D1.5. Hours and experience can be used toward attaining an apprenticeship and Ironworker Journeyman's License following completion of the program.
